Safari Collection
Because I'm tired of digging through blog posts to boast my safari collection, I decided it was high time to grant it a page of its own. All the photos you see below are original photographs, RPPCs, and lantern slides displayed in my collection (RPPC stands for "Real Photo Post Card." Back in the good old days, one could develop their photo right onto post card paper and mail it overseas, etc. This means the image is personally owned and not reproduced or generically purchased like we see at CVS and tourist kiosks). And why yes, I do accept solicitations if you happen to be an antique photography dealer.
I only buy photos featuring men. It's really sexist. But...yeah.
While I don't support killing creatures today, I do support historical and human studies indiscriminately, and the explorative and masculine White Hunter craze is a unique and vivid era of history. My purchases do not go towards big game hunting in any way. What I do support - and envy - is the spirit of adventure with which I believe these vintage men radiate and which we should catch a breath of in our own lives, without pulling triggers, of course. Inspired by the adventure that is Emporium, my interest in antique safari/big game hunting photographs, artifacts, and pith helmets has run rampant and secured a blue star rating for myself on eBay.
That's kind of not a good thing.
Oh, and I own that map up there. And your chair. I also own your chair.
